Meet Katie, the winemaker.
Katie graduated from winemaking at the University of Adelaide in 2007. She worked vintages (and learned a lot!) in the Clare Valley, Denmark, France and Margaret River before returning to Pemberton as Assitant Winemaker in 2009. The 2010 vintage saw Katie become head winemaker at Lost Lake and with the help of her father (Steve) and brother (Matt) the fruit was picked and wine was created! Since then she has been converting people to the wine she makes one glass of chardonnay (or pinot, or honey merlot) at a time. Latest recruit? James Halliday. This is Steve;
owner, vineyard manager, tractor driver
Step in to our cellar door and you will see the passion of Steve's past lining the walls - rugby jumpers from many occasions, including one of his own. After the rugby and before the winery, Steve owned a building company (being a builder himself) but it was a yearning for a different sort of challenge that saw him and his wife (Karen) buy a winery and move to Pemberton. Now he spends his days managing the vineyard and helping in the winery. He is also occasionally seen in cellar door, though with the Rugby World Cup on I wouldn't look for him for a while. |

And Karen;
photographer & cellar door legend
Karen is the creator of the artwork lining the walls of the cellar door (except the rubgy jumpers, she had nothing to do with those). She's most often found behind the bar, serving tastings and chatting away with the regulars and newbies alike. In her spare time she can be found ambling about on hands and knees searching for photogenic fungi or spread out with brushes and easle, painting the things she sees and the things she imagines. |
